This latest installment in what has become a a cottage industry among hip university library systems, features an appearance by the Mason Men&#8217;s\u00c2\u00a0 Basketball Coach, Jim Larranaga, an original soundtrack, a library patron enjoying a meal of pizza and spaghetti in the reading room, and Jackie the Librarian. The latter has the ability t0 sniff out food-borne dangers to books, transport herself to any part of the library, and show all transgressors the proper way to treat library materials.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/GMUArchives\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-646\" title=\"poster_04_centered2\" src=\"http:\/\/specialcollections.files.wordpress.com\/2009\/04\/fundamentals_poster.jpg?w=193&#038;resize=193%2C300\" alt=\"poster_04_centered2\" width=\"193\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The University Libraries observe Preservation Awareness Day on Wednesday, April 15, and the film, <em>The FUNdamentals of Book Care in 5 Easy Lessons, <\/em>is framed in a lighthearted and whimsical manner, the film derails traditional library stereotypes and reinforces how fun a library can be.<\/p>\n<p>Written, directed, and produced by Leah Donnelly, Coordinator of the <a href=\"http:\/\/sca.gmu.edu\/oral_history.htm\">George Mason Oral History Program<\/a>; Veronica Fletcher, <a href=\"http:\/\/recordsmanagement.gmu.edu\/\">University Records<\/a> Manager; and Adam Fielding, <a href=\"http:\/\/sca.gmu.edu\/\">SC&amp;A<\/a>&#8216;s Research Services Coordinator;\u00c2\u00a0 the video features a soundtrack by Washington, DC guitarist <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rodneyrichardson.com\">Rodney Richardson<\/a>. The cast includes George Mason University librarians and student employees.
