Michigan: The Nation's Playground<\/p><\/div>\n

SC&A was fortunate enough to recently acquire a copy of Achievement in Photo-Engraving and Letter Press Printing<\/em> 1927<\/em> (sp.col. TR 970 .F6 1927) for our rare book collection. The book, compiled and edited by Louis Flader for the American Photo-Engravers Association, is a wonderful compendium of pre-depression era advertising. It’s a hefty book at 448 pages, and contains numerous essays on the history of the photo engraving, current techniques and processes, and its place within advertising. There is a wide range in the products advertised, everything from cars and clothing to dental equipment and cheese loafs. And it’s hard not to love this first ad here for Michigan (the nation’s playground)<\/p>\n
