Amanda here again to chat with you about the Robert Breen papers. As reprocessing continues, I thought I’d share with you some of my favorite records from this collection (my most favorites being the Gloria Swanson and Joan Crawford letters, which you can see here.) Because the majority of the collection originates from the 1940s, there are many items that reflect the Hollywood and theatrical communities of America’s support of the reelection of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. I also was delighted to find lots of non-theatre-related ephemera from the time period. One of my absolutely favorite things about processing is finding these sometimes-overlooked archival gems – It’s the little things, you guys. Without further ado, please enjoy this selection of materials from the Robert Breen papers.<\/p>\n
<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7073\" data-attachment-id=\"7073\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/vault217.gmu.edu\/?attachment_id=7073\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?fit=5265%2C2891&ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"5265,2891\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{"aperture":"0","credit":"","camera":"","caption":"","created_timestamp":"0","copyright":"","focal_length":"0","iso":"0","shutter_speed":"0","title":"","orientation":"0"}\" data-image-title=\"breen_004\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"<p>A pre-addressed envlope to Frederic March, Treasurer of the Independent Citizens Committee.<\/p>\n\" data-medium-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?fit=240%2C132&ssl=1\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?fit=300%2C165&ssl=1\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7073\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?resize=900%2C494\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"494\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?w=5265&ssl=1 5265w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?resize=240%2C132&ssl=1 240w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?resize=768%2C422&ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?resize=300%2C165&ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?w=1800&ssl=1 1800w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vault217.gmu.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/breen_004.jpg?w=2700&ssl=1 2700w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/>
A pre-addressed envelope to Fredric March, Treasurer of the Independent Citizens Committee of the Arts, Sciences and Professions.
