Scott Photograph Collection was chosen for the Summer 2008 issue of the <em>Mid Atlantic Archivist<\/em>, the quarterly publication of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lib.umd.edu\/MARAC\/\">Mid Atlantic Regional Archives Conference (MARAC)<\/a>. The image portrays members of the Youth Committee Against the War, a group which was part of the much larger Keep America Out of War Congress begun in 1938 to protest American involvement in the growing World War.<\/p>\n<p>The group of young people in this image is protesting the draft in Washington, DC on August 1, 1940.<\/p>\n<p>Arthur O. Scott started his career as a wire service photojournalist based in Washington, DC. Invited by Barry Goldwater to serve as staff photographer to the Republican Senatorial Committee, he eventually became the Senate&#8217;s photohistorian.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An image from SC&amp;A&#8217;s Arthur O.
