Warfield Collection in SC&amp;A have been digitized, and these items now form the <a href=\"http:\/\/mars.gmu.edu\/dspace\/handle\/1920\/3059\">John N. Warfield Digital Collection<\/a>. Warfield began his intellectual career studying electrical engineering and mathematics. This led him to work with early computer prototypes. Besides math and electrical engineering, Warfield became interested in group pathologies. He began to look at how and why people make decisions, especially in situations that involve a great deal of complexity. This led him to establish Interactive Management (IM), a computer-assisted process designed to help groups manage complex problems unique to their organizations.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_48\" style=\"width: 380px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/specialcollections.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/11\/warfield_im_ben.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-48\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-48\" title=\"warfield_im_ben\" src=\"http:\/\/specialcollections.files.wordpress.com\/2008\/11\/warfield_im_ben.jpg?w=300&#038;resize=370%2C265\" alt=\"warfield_im_ben\" width=\"370\" height=\"265\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-48\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Interactive Management session. Warfield Papers.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Some of the organizations that have used IM in the past include: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ford.com\/\">Ford Motor Company<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.defenselink.mil\/\">U.S. Department of Defense<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nmfs.noaa.gov\/\">National Marine Fisheries Service<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.belvoir.army.mil\/maps\/DSMC_info.htm\">Defense Systems Management College<\/a>. IM sessions, like the one in the video segment below, are facilitated meetings designed to resolve complex issues pertaining to an organization. Warfield Papers.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Warfield served as President of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ieeesmc.org\/\">Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society<\/a> of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ieee.org\/portal\/site\">Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers<\/a> as well as the Society for General Systems Research (late renamed the I<a href=\"http:\/\/isss.org\/world\/index.php\">nternational Society of Systems Science<\/a>).\u00a0 He was founding editor of the journal Systems Research and was editor of the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics.\u00a0 Warfield is also a Fellow of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sdpsnet.org\/\">International Society for Design and Process Science<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Materials in this collection date from 1951 to 2007 and include manuscripts, photographs, audio, and video segments.<\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 7px;\" width=\"10\" border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"1\" cellpadding=\"2\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><!--more--><!--more--><!--more--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Select items from the John N.
