Of note, the former Virginia historic documents collection (C0034) has been revamped so that each item will appropriately have its own finding aid and collection number. See below for links to and brief descriptions of these collections!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>All of these collections were reprocessed and their finding aids created by Amanda Brent.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/wyleyclarke.html\">Note from George Wyley to Daniel Clarke of Fairfax County<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Small, handwritten note from George Wyley to Daniel Clarke of Fairfax County, VA. Wyley asks Clarke&#8217;s assistance in getting a man named Samuel Gates a &#8216;lisence.'&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/raleighcarewcorrespondence.html\">Raleigh and Carew family correspondence<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;This collection includes correspondence between and from members of the Raleigh (spelled Ralegh) and Carew families from around the early-mid 1500s to 1652. The collection is composed of eight letters. Notable correspondence includes a letter from Bess Throckmorton Raleigh to her brother Nicholas Carew, as well as correspondence written by Carew Raleigh, youngest son of Bess and Sir Walter Raleigh.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/fairfaxcountybailbond.html\">Fairfax County bail bond<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;A bail bond from Fairfax County, VA, presumably written by the Clerk, written March 19, 1714. The bail bond requests &#8220;two hundred pounds sterling&#8221; for the release of prisoner William Hall.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/lordfairfaxlandsurvey.html\">Lord Thomas Fairfax land survey<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;A land survey performed on behalf of Lord Thomas Fairfax and written on June 8, 1739 by King George&#8217;s County surveyor John Warner, likely as a part of the &#8216;battle of the maps,&#8217; which was an effort made by Lord Fairfax and other local Virginia families to lay official claim to parts of the Northern Neck of Virginia. Fairfax succeeded in 1745, thanks to Warner&#8217;s surveys conducted at the behest of London&#8217;s Privy Council.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/hallpark.html\">Complaint against William Hall by John Park<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Complaint against William Hall by John Park of Fairfax County for a debt settlement, written by John Minor on December 6, 1746. This note appears to have also been used as a summons for all the local sheriffs and constables in Virginia to take into account.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/fairfaxcountycourtsummons.html\">Fairfax County Court summons of witnesses<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Fairfax County Court summons of witnesses William Gladin, John Gunston, and Mary Bradford for Mary Tarbuck. The summons was written by the then Clerk of the Court, Peter Wagener, on March 20, 1754.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/josephstephens.html\">Fairfax County court demand to apprehend Joseph Stephens<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Fairfax County court demand to apprehend Joseph Stephens on behalf of David Hughes, written on March 23, 1763 by Peter Wagener, the then Clerk of the Court. Stephens is accused of assault and battery on Hughes and his wife, Mary, with damages amounting to fifty pounds.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/josephjanney.html\">Letter from Joseph Janney of Leesburg, Virginia<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Letter from Joseph Janney of Leesburg, Virginia concerning the shipment of goods, written in 1773.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color has-vivid-cyan-blue-color\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scrc.gmu.edu\/finding_aids\/fairfaxwhiteindenture.html\">Land indenture from Denny Fairfax to Alexander White<\/a>*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Land indenture from Denny Fairfax nee Martin to Alexander White, written and signed December 4, 1790.
